a woman sat down next to him on the bench where he sat, solving a Soduko puzzle. She told him she was a nursing assistant at the nearby hospital for mentally disabled kids, and that her son was very gifted at math. Then a man on a motorcycle pulled up, took off his helmet, and told Pete that the city doesn't like him using the gravel road through the park, but it was insane to have to drive all the way around. Insane!

while walking to a movie along McKee Road, he noticed an animal lying on it's back in the grassy strip between the sidewalk and the street. It was a woodchuck, with its eyes closed, slowly waving its legs in the air. Pete stopped and watched it. Other than the fact that it was on its back, Pete could see no damage to it, but it was clearly injured somehow. When he returned two hours later, after the movie, the woodchuck was curled up, dead.
